“My wife’s parents recently died, so she inherited an apartment. Everything that my wife and I acquired during our marriage is our joint property. But it so happened that our marriage is simply a fiction and we are thinking of getting a divorce in a couple of years, when our daughter turns 18. Will the inherited apartment be divided after the divorce as joint property?
– The issue of dividing property received during marriage by one of the spouses is one of the most painful in a divorce. I will say right away that property inherited by a husband or wife is, in most cases, not divided during a divorce and remains entirely the property of the heir. But there are exceptions.
